So far, we have Teams: 30  and there are still -130 days until Relay!

Hey Relayers!

Welcome back from Spring break!  We hope you had a great time with friends and family while you were gone.

Now that we are all back on campus, we wanted to remind you that the 2008 Relay For Life of UPS is just around the corner.  As a matter of fact, it’s just a little over two weeks away!  The Relay is scheduled to start Friday, April 11th at 5pm and continue over night to Saturday, April 12th at 12 noon at Baker Stadium.

There will be a D.J., live music, games, contests, fun activities and a BBQ.  Come on out and enjoy the Relay!

Here is some important information about the Relay, and some things you can do to help make this year’s event a big success:

•    Please continue to recruit people to be on your team.  The average size team is between 8 and 13 people, although you can have less, or more.

•    Encourage your friends who are not yet involved to start their own team online.  ( www.relayforlifeofups.com )  Our goal this year for teams is 27.  We currently have 23.  We can blow this goal out of the water if you all help us by spreading the word.

•    Now is the time to really focus on fundraising.  We’re on the home stretch and the finish line is in sight!  Our fundraising goal this year is $28,000.  Currently we have raised over $6,000.  That’s awesome!  But, we still have a little way to go to meet our goal.  Team Captains, please encourage your teams to fundraise.  You can fundraise the old-fashioned way by doing things like car washes, movie nights, bake sales, etc.  Or, utilize the online email fundraising campaigns from your Participant Center on the website. ( www.relayforlifeofups.com ) Email everyone you know and ask them to forward your email to everyone they know.  It really is an easy way to raise money.  Here are the steps:

- Click on the Participant Center in the Upper Left Corner of the screen
- Then click on the email icon at the top of the screen
- You will then be able to select a number of stock emails to send (join my     team, ask for donations, etc., or make up your own)
- Click on the type of email you would like to send
- Add email addresses in the send to list and customize the message of the email for your purposes
- Click the send button at the bottom of the page

If you have any problems with this please email Eric Schneider at ebschneider@ups.edu for help.

•    Bank Night will be Wednesday, April 9th from 6pm to 8pm in Wyatt in one of the third floor rooms.  We encourage the Team Captains to turn in any money that their teams have raised at that time.  You can still turn it in on the day of Relay but turning it in on Bank Night will help the accounting and registration volunteers at the event.

•    T-Shirts for participants who registered by the T-Shirt deadline will be passed out at the Relay.

Sincerely,

Your UPS Relay For Life Committee
